Asuhan Keperawatan pada Pasien An. Z Dengan Infeksi Saluran Pernapasan Akut (ISPA)

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is an acute infectious disease that affects one or more parts of the respiratory tract, ranging from the nose (upper respiratory tract) to the alveoli (lower respiratory tract). The combination of nursing care for children with ARI and the administration of peppermint aromatherapy via steam inhalation can optimize sputum expectoration, making it more effective and efficient. Additionally, audiovisual distraction therapy can help alleviate discomfort caused by hospitalization in pediatric patients.To describe and implement nursing care for a pediatric patient, An. Z, diagnosed with ARI in the Malaqbi 3 Ward of the West Sulawesi Provincial General Hospital.This case study utilized a qualitative descriptive approach to explore the nursing care provided to a 5-year-old child with ARI. The interventions implemented included airway management, relaxation therapy, and health education. Data were analyzed through narrative analysis of interview results and comparison with theoretical references.Three nursing diagnoses were established: ineffective airway clearance, impaired comfort, and readiness for enhanced knowledge. The intervention of peppermint inhalation proved effective in clearing respiratory secretions, while audiovisual distraction increased comfort in the pediatric patient. The nursing interventions carried out over three days were effective, guided by standardized SIKI approaches and enhanced by innovative complementary interventions such as aromatherapy inhalation and audiovisual distraction. Hospitals are encouraged to provide facilities and training to support holistic nursing interventions, including educational media, peppermint aromatherapy inhalation, and audiovisual distraction therapy.
