Abstract
Mastery of ethical and legal aspects in therapeutic group therapy is crucial for nurses to protect patient rights and strengthen professional accountability. This literature review aims to identify the ethical and legal aspects of nursing in the implementation of therapeutic group therapy. A literature review was conducted across the LibUI, Google Scholar, and PubMed databases using a combination of keywords such as namely "ethics", "legal", "ethical principles", "legal principles", "group therapy" and "therapeutic group therapy". The inclusion criteria selected textbooks, journal articles, legislation, theses, and dissertations in Indonesian or English published within the last 10 years (2014-2024) that discuss the ethical and legal frameworks of group therapy. Non-full-text articles or studies focusing on individual therapy were excluded. Ten selected articles were analyzed using the narrative synthesis method. Ethical principles identified consist of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, fidelity, and veracity. Legal principles encompass the rights and obligations of both patients and nurses in the execution of therapeutic group therapy. The implementation of therapeutic group therapy must be grounded in the integration of six ethical principles and a legal framework governing the rights and responsibilities of nurses and patients. The synergy of these two aspects ensures that psychiatric-mental health nursing interventions are conducted professionally, legally secure, and with the utmost respect for human dignity.
