Abstract
The first month of life is the most vulnerable phase for neonates to survive. Neonates must make various physiological adjustments in order to survive as well as possible to reduce the high incidence of morbidity and mortality of newborns. Various efforts have been made to minimize the negative impact of premature birth and LBW, such as Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). However, it is felt that the application of KMC alone is still not optimal for shortening hospital days. Thus, a combination intervention is needed that can further optimize the health services provided. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the combination of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and Prone Positioning interventions on weight gain in babies with LBW.
The research method used in this research is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach. Sampling was carried out using a consecutive sampling technique involving 40 samples divided into intervention and control groups. This study used measurement instruments, namely digital baby scales weight. The results of this study showed that there was a difference between the two groups in the increase in weight of LBW babies, where a more significant increase was seen in the intervention group (p value : 0,001). Thus, combination intervention can be an option that is easy to implement to achieve optimal growth in neonates.
